An old beautiful song by Beverly Shea, reminds us of God's unwavering care for us. Humanly speaking, the thought of His constant guardianship and upkeep is inconsistent with us the yet-sinners. But He loves us still. I have decided to ignore any seeming discrepancy, but to trust His word. For the scripture assures me, "Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God... casting all your care upon him; for he cares for you."
1 Peter 5:6-7
Moreover, he promises to continue His past graces towards His people. "The Lord has been mindful of us." Psalm 115:12. Our preservation proves this, our mercies, our trials, our guidance and our consolations. Everything, even the minutest blessing, represents a thought in the mind of God respecting us. "How precious are thy thoughts concerning me, O God, how great," (Psalm 139:17), and those thoughts go back to an eternity before we came into being. "The Lord hath been mindful of us"; then should we not be more mindful of him? The beacon at His lighthouse never goes out.
Listen to this lovely song, may you be encouraged:
[Verse 1]
Tenderly he watches over you
Every step, every mile of the way
Like a mother watching over her baby
He is near you every hour of the day.
[Verse 2]
When you're weak when you're strong
When you're right, when your wrong
In your joy in your pain
When you lose or when you gain
Tenderly He watches over you
every step every mile of the way
[Verse 3]
Long before time began
You were part of his plan
Let your fear crown your brow
He will not forsake you now
Tenderly he watches over you
Every step every mile of the way.
"Our past experience furnishes the fullest evidence that he will continue to bless us. He who has delivered us from so great calamities, and who has restored us to our native land after so long and so painful a captivity, will not forsake us now. There can be now no circumstances in which he cannot bestow on us all the blessings which we need; there will be none when we may not hope that he will bless us. If he could save us from such troubles, be can save us from all; if he did thus interpose, we may argue that he will always grant us his help when we need it."- Albert Barnes Notes on the Bible comment on Psalm 115:12
